June is almost here!
Let the Insanity Begin
Are you trembling with anticipation? With excitement? With frayed nerves about what you’ve about to do?
Writing fifty thousand words in thirty days is a big deal. It’s quite a commitment, but it’s also an attainable goal. And you’re not alone in this. We’re all here with you. You can do it! Together we are going to ROCK this thing!
We’ve already had a great number of people sign up for JuNoWriMo. If you haven’t yet, now’s the time (it’s also your last chance to bug your writer friends who need to write that novel)! Click on the “sign up” link at the top of the page.
Something to Celebrate
There’s no better way to start June than with a burst of motivation from being spurred on by your friends and fellow WriMos.
We’re hosting a virtual kick-off party to celebrate the beginning of JuNoWriMo. On May 31st at 11pm Eastern the kick-off party will begin. We’ll connect on Twitter using the hashtag #JuNoWriMo.
Check out Tweet Chat for a super easy way to chat–the hashtag is automatically included in each tweet. You can also subscribe to our JuNoWriMo Tweeps Twitter list to stay connected with all our participants. (If you’re not on our list and you’re doing JuNoWriMo, let me know and I’ll add you!)
At midnight Eastern time we’ll start the word sprints and you can jump in whenever your time zone rolls over into 12:00am. Caffeinate yourself as you see fit. We’ll use that burst creative energy to write as much as we can. It will be lots of fun to see how long everyone can last. This is also an excellent opportunity to get ahead on your daily wordcount. Believe me, in weeks two and three you’ll be thankful you got a some extra padding. Hopefully you won’t be behind and scrambling at the end of the month.
Join the Fun!
If you haven’t created a Twitter account, do it now so that you’ll be ready when the word wars start. Follow @JuNoWriMo for sprints. Also, we’ve created an event for the kick-off party on our Facebook page. Make sure you click “join” if you’re going to be there on May 31st. And invite any of your friends who are doing JuNoWriMo. The more, the merrier!
See you soon!
